We’ve recently seen an increase in road users not adhering to parking restrictions outside schools across our local area. This includes: These behaviours not only breach traffic regulations but also pose serious safety risks to children, parents, and the wider community.
🚫 What Are the Parking Restrictions? Outside schools, zig-zag lines are there to keep sightlines clear and ensure children can cross safely. Additionally, blocking pavements, driveways, or junctions is incredibly dangerous; these rules are in place to protect vulnerable road users, especially children and those with mobility issues.
🕒 New Restrictions Around Schools In some locations, Herefordshire Council has introduced the Safer School Streets scheme, which restricts vehicle access to certain roads around schools during key drop-off and pick-up times. These measures aim to:
